Secret Is You

The sadhana yatra

A Himalayan trek for people who spend the rest of the year at a desk. Five or six days of walking, silence and honest questions, led by Pankaj.

Made for people at work

Most people who walk a sadhana yatra are not monks or seekers. They lead teams, run businesses, close quarters and answer email at midnight. They are good at what they do, and tired in a way that a weekend does not fix.

The sadhana yatra does not ask you to leave that life. It takes you out of it for a few days, far enough and long enough to see it clearly, and then brings you back.

What the mountain does that a holiday cannot

  • You are unreachable

Phones stay in the bag while you walk, and on much of the trail the network fades anyway. For many people it is the first time in years that nobody needs an answer from them. The first day feels strange. By the third, it feels like rest.

  • Your body sets the pace

You cannot rush a mountain. Step, breath and heartbeat settle into the rhythm of the climb, and the mind slows down to follow them. No technique is needed for this part.

  • Silence makes room

The silent mornings are not a rule for its own sake. Without the usual noise, the questions you keep postponing come up on their own: about your work, the people around you, and where it is all heading.

  • A frame to think with

Evening satsang uses the Life Matrix of self, people and work. Work gets real attention: ambition, pressure, purpose, and what success is quietly costing you.

  • Nobody is the boss

On the trail, titles do not matter. The chief executive and the fresher carry their own bags and climb the same steps. That is often more humbling, and more freeing, than people expect.

What you carry back down

  • A short breath practice you can use anywhere: before a difficult meeting, after a hard call, at the end of a long day.
  • A clearer sense of what matters to you, and of what you have been doing only out of habit.
  • Better attention, both to the people you work with and to yourself.
  • Some distance from the everyday. That distance is usually where good decisions come from.

For teams

Pankaj also walks with leadership teams and small company groups. A team that has climbed together, eaten together and sat in silence together talks differently when it is back in the office.

Team yatras are kept small and planned around your dates and your people. They can be a plain yatra or a full sadhana yatra, and Pankaj shapes the evening sessions around what the team is facing. Stays can be simple or premium. He plans and prices every team yatra personally.

Is it for you?

It is for you if you are tired of being busy, if you have a decision you keep putting off, or if you simply want to go back to work with a quieter mind.

You do not need to have meditated before, or to believe anything in particular. You need to be able to walk uphill for several hours a day, and to be willing to put your phone away.
